My Last 10-42
Is today the day
that you will cry as I am lowered to my grave
Is today the day
that someone took my whole life away
Is today the day
that I become another statistic on the books
because I lived my life for the law
and was taken out by a crook
Is today the day
that my family has to say good bye
and my children will never understand why
Is today the day
that I climb my way to heaven
with a pair of wings
and a badge with the number 7
My friends, I tell you that today is the day
that I knew might come
and I spent my life
loving the law enough to protect and serve
Please remember me on this and every other day
That I gave my life
So our children can go play
and as I give you my last 10-42
Remember as a cop and a person
That I loved you
